Chin Augmentation
Adding projection to a recessed chin with an implant or, less often, bone work — only after bite and profile are examined together.
Overview
Chin augmentation changes how the lower face sits in profile. An implant, a sliding genioplasty, or — for a small, temporary change — filler are not interchangeable. A weak chin next to a large nose may look like a nose problem until both are examined. Bite, gum health, and whether the jaw itself needs orthognathic work matter more than a side-on selfie. Meridia will not pick an implant size from a celebrity outline. Infection, shift, and the feel of a foreign body are part of the consent, not small print.
Who it may be suitable for
- Adults whose chin sits short in profile and whose bite does not require jaw surgery first
- Patients who can accept an implant or bone cut rather than asking filler to do structural work
Techniques
- Silicone or other implants when indicated
- Genioplasty or filler only if the surgeon prefers that route
Procedure timeline
01
Profile and bite
Photographs, occlusion, and medical history are reviewed together.
02
Surgery or injection
Implants and osteotomies are theatre cases; filler is not a quieter version of the same operation.
Recovery
- The chin feels tight and numb; smiling and eating need care
- A soft diet and sleeping on the back are common instructions
Expected process
- 1. Share photos, medical history, and travel constraints with a coordinator
- 2. A clinician reviews suitability before any itinerary is confirmed
- 3. Transfers, hotel nights, and appointments are arranged if you choose a coordinated package
Is this treatment right for me?
This is not a medical diagnosis. Final suitability requires professional evaluation.

Questions
Filler can hint at projection. It will not reliably do what an implant or osteotomy does and it is not permanent.
Sometimes the profile should be planned together. That is a surgical judgement, not a package upgrade.
